Studies left on an ultrasound machine's own disk vanish when that disk fills or fails, and a patient's previous scan — often the whole clinical point — is unfindable when it matters. A PACS puts every study in one archive with a second copy, opens it in a browser, and keeps the report with the images instead of in a separate document.

Yes. The viewer runs in a browser, so a radiologist can open a study from anywhere without installing software. Diagnostic reading still depends on a suitable display and local regulations.
It depends entirely on your mix of modalities — a plain radiograph is small, a multi-slice CT is not. The reliable method is to measure a typical week of your own output and multiply by your legal retention period, which we help you do.
Yes, in standard DICOM format, both for an individual patient and in bulk. Being able to leave is a reasonable thing to ask of any vendor before you join them.
