A laboratory information system exists to answer two questions without anyone walking to the bench: where is this sample, and why is it late? Every tube carries an accession barcode from registration. "Which sample is this?" stops being answered from memory, and mislabelling — the most consequential error in a lab — becomes far harder.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the LIS and PathLab?

PathLab covers the commercial side of a lab — registration, billing, results and reporting. The LIS module concentrates on the sample itself: barcodes, state tracking, turnaround time and quality control. Many labs run both; smaller labs often start with PathLab alone.

Do I need a barcode printer?

For barcode tracking, yes — an ordinary thermal label printer is enough. The rest of the system works without one, but sample identity is where most lab errors begin, so barcodes are worth the small cost.

Why does turnaround time matter?

Because it is a symptom you can act on. When it drifts, the cause is usually specific — samples waiting for a batch, one analyser as a bottleneck, or results entered but not verified. You cannot see any of that from a register.

Is there a live demo?

Not a public one. The LIS is configured to each laboratory's own tests and workflow, so we arrange a walkthrough on request. PathLab, which shares much of the same foundation, has an open demo you can try immediately.

How much does it cost?

The software has no licence fee. You pay only for the VPS hosting that runs your private instance, from $20 per month for lab systems.
